Financial Education Built on Real Experience

We started theranqova in 2019 because too many Australian businesses were getting generic advice that ignored their actual circumstances. Five years later, we're still learning alongside the people we work with.

How We Got Here

The truth is, we didn't set out to revolutionize anything. Archie Pemberton, our founder, spent twelve years watching businesses struggle with finance education that felt more like checking boxes than solving problems. He'd sit in meetings where consultants would present identical strategies to completely different companies.

So in early 2019, he decided to try something different in Baulkham Hills. Start with what businesses actually need. Skip the jargon. And honestly? It took us nearly eighteen months to figure out what we were doing. We made mistakes – plenty of them. But clients stuck around because they could tell we were genuinely trying to help rather than just sell them a program.

Now we work with businesses across New South Wales, and each project teaches us something new. That's the real story here. We're not experts who have it all figured out. We're just committed to staying curious about what actually works in practice rather than what looks good in theory.

What Drives Our Work

These aren't corporate values written by a committee. They're the things we come back to when we're making tough decisions.

Practical First

Every concept we teach has to work in real business situations. If it doesn't survive contact with actual accounting systems and cash flow problems, we don't teach it.

Honest Limits

We're upfront about what we don't know and what might not work for your specific situation. There's no one-size-fits-all approach to business finances.

Real Growth

Skills develop over months and years, not weekends. We design programs that acknowledge this reality instead of promising instant transformation.

People Who Actually Do This Work

Our team includes former business owners, accountants who got tired of just filing taxes, and finance professionals who wanted to teach rather than just advise. Everyone here has spent time dealing with the messy reality of business finance.

We hire people who can admit when they don't know something and who care more about finding solutions than being right. That probably sounds obvious, but it's surprisingly rare in this field.

I spent eight years as a financial controller before joining theranqova in 2021. What I love about teaching is seeing people realize they're smarter than they thought – they just needed someone to explain things clearly.

How We Approach Education

Our process evolved from watching what actually helped people versus what just looked impressive on paper.

1

Start With Context

We spend time understanding your business model before suggesting any learning path. A retail operation has different financial priorities than a service business, and generic advice ignores that reality.

2

Build Progressive Skills

Our September 2025 cohort starts with fundamentals and adds complexity only when it makes sense. You'll work with your own business data throughout, which means the learning sticks because it's immediately relevant.

3

Practice With Support

Theory without application doesn't change anything. Each module includes practical exercises, and we're available when you get stuck. Most participants say this ongoing support matters more than the structured content.

4

Keep Learning

Financial literacy isn't a destination. Regulations change, business models evolve, and new challenges emerge. We provide ongoing resources because your learning shouldn't stop when a program ends.

What You Can Expect From Us

We'll show up prepared, answer questions honestly, and admit when we need to research something before responding. You'll get practical tools and frameworks you can actually use, not theoretical concepts that sound impressive but don't translate to real work.

Our next intake begins in September 2025, and we're limiting it to twelve participants so everyone gets proper attention. That's not a marketing gimmick – it's just what works based on our experience over the past five years.
